Nico's Pier 38 is great place for pescaterians and omnivores alike! Thought I had previously reviewed Nico's though it's helpful to revisit and refresh one's taste buds lol. Nico's is located off Nimitz Highway. There are two entrances to Pier 38 in case you miss the first one. Pick a menu, place your order, and choose a table in the large dining area. It wasn't long before our buzzer alerted us to pickup our order. This time I ordered the furikake pan seared ahi, medium rare, with brown rice and green salad. You can request the ahi to be cooked from rare to well done. It was prepared as requested. I'd definitely order this again! My dining mate ordered the loco moco, egg over easy. She was happy with her choice. The din of the open-air dining area does run high, as there is a bar area in the center. You can still have decent conversation; it would work for a non-serious business meeting. Stop by the fish market for fresh fish and poke or poke bowl on your way out. I'll definitely be back!

I wanted to get the poke bowl with smoked salmon belly, but it is not included in that price. Had to order it separately for $24.95 a pound. Bought a quarter pound of salmon belly and separately purchase a California roll six piece bento for $6.95 it cost less than a Poké bowl and it was worth it. They also gave me a bag of ice if you wanna keep your take-out meal cold - it's complementary. The crab in the California roll had real crab and the salmon belly had a glazed teriyaki sauce. Service was very hospitable. However, when you order a drink now, you have to pay two dollars for a refill. Hot water and cold water are free. We ordered a separate plate lunch, which included beef stew, noodles, macaroni salad and we substituted the rice for french fries. The stew was very tasty and we had three big chunks of meat that was soft and tender. This place is great for a quick lunch.

It's been 8 years since I came here, decided to give it another try again with co-workers. We ordered take-out for a lunch meeting. I got the 24 oz. beef stew, it was substantial and super delicious! wish it was served with potatoes, it did include lots of carrots which was well cooked. Also mister and I came on Thirsty Thursday and it was crazy busy! parking was difficult although there are plenty throughout. When we were seated, the hostess mentioned dine-in was limited to an hour half, also our waitress reminded us of the same thing first and foremost! Although it was busy, we were seated right away, and our waiter took our food and drink order immediately. Food was super fast. Mister liked the furukake fish, he wasn't sure what type of fish? but he ate it all. I got the braised shortribs, I really liked it and can't wait to have it again. Only thing, was the shortribs and mashed pot was cold.

09/12/24 Lunch with friends... I made the big mistake of ordering pork belly... cuz I love belly pork. Such a dummy. It's fish place, order fish! We came early, 10:30 am. It was perfect...parking, tables, service... all great! Nice and quiet. Food was prepared quickly. I had Nelly pork... did not like it... some kind of pesto sauce and it was really fatty, not a nice balance of meat. Next time it will definitely be fish! The place is still nicely maintained, the scenery is lovely, no air conditioning but still cool with the ceiling fans. I will go back... GET THE FISH!

Locals ! Come here for lunch, it's served till 4pm and prices are reasonable. I always get the furikaki seared ahi and fish n chips. You need to place your order at the first cashier counter, given a beeper and then you can pick up your food at the main counter. I like this system but it can get super crowded and hectic during actual lunch hours. There are lot of tables inside and outside as well. Bathrooms are clean and staff are all so friendly.

Went to Nicos yesterday and what really stood out to me was the amazing service we got. I can't remember the name but he was extremely helpful and was there to answer any and all questions we had. In terms of the ambiance this place is cute. It's next to the harbor so you can see ships and boats when you look outside which is nice. The food is average as its best so definitely suggest the spot more for the views. Now going to the food we ordered: * Shrimp scampi pasta - this was a creamy pasta dish with fried capers and shrimp. This also came with a soft buttery garlic bread that was perfect to mop up the sauce. * Cheeseburger - this came with double patty which was nice soft and tender along with the cheese and usual burger veggies. It came with fries also which was nice. I asked for a side of garlic aioli dip as well which was nice. *Drink - we got a drink with lots of different flavors like mango pineapple and coconut I believe. It was yummy and refreshing for the evening portion of the night! Overall, good experience here and enjoyed with the hubby!

Made it back... Home, Nicco's WoW! Always perfect... came in during Dinner Time... Live music Always set's the vibes... got my short ribs and A Beautiful buubuu Arare crusted Salmon on on bed of Fresh greens... Fish cooked perfectly... dressing was on point! So awesome having the akule special plate Always my go to whenever we stop by We had a craving for fish today

Came here for lunch on a weekday after the rave reviews from our Uber driver. The location is nice, with a lot of space and an outdoor area that was peaceful. We were greeted by a very friendly hostess as soon as we walked in. You can order in the restaurant or you can also order at the fish market side where you can get poke and bring it over. We decided to go over to the fish market to check out the poke. We got the Hawaiian Plate (Friday's only) which had Pork Lau Lau, Kalua Pig, Lomi Salmon, and Poi, and also poke bowl. The person behind the poke counter was not friendly, but the deli cashier was nice. There was so much poke to choose from! It all looked beautiful. We got two scoops of ahi deluxe and one ginger style poke. The person behind the counter misheard our order and gave us two scoops of ginger style and one scoop of deluxe. When we pointed it out, she dumped a portion of the ginger style back in its tub behind the counter. It already touched our hot rice so not sure if that's normal or not. We sat outside and enjoyed the calm sunny day. The lomi lomi salmon was overly salty and the kalua pig was dry; I liked the pork lau lau the most. The amount of rice and kalua pork were massive. It was my friend's first time trying poi and he thought it was okay. I wanted us to try a Hawaiian meal together at least once during the trip, and this was good enough. All in all I'd come back to try more poke!

This review was written in chronological order as I experienced it. At lunch you walk it to a lively atmosphere but it's dirty. Trash on the floors, bathrooms unkempt, men's bathroom had rolls of toilet paper across the floors. You order at the front and they give you a buzzer to pick up the food. The person taking the orders was nice and helpful, You pick your own table. There was live music which was great and a great view of the pier. You sit in plastic outdoor chairs. This place just had a crazy mix of outdoor park atmosphere and restaurant. The problem for all of it is the price you pay. For this price, you just expect more. I ordered a Mai Tai and watched the bartender make it. A large glass with not even a shot of rum. It was like drinking juice for $15.00. All the food is served in to go containers, again, very lunch at the park. But then you taste the food. Everything was excellent. Ahi tuna, gumbo, seafood chowder, calamari, salad, everything. Hard to hate the place when the food is quality. I would give it a 5 star if not for the drinks.
